What’s happening on the water during the festival?
Today many anglers are turning to kayaks and pontoon boats to enhance their on-the-water experience. With these personal watercrafts you may be able to access areas that you would not otherwise be able to reach by wading or boating.
The Virginia Fly Fishing Festival’s On the Water section is a series of free classes sponsored by WaterSkeeter and the Appomattox River Company that will be held on the banks of the South River during the festival.
Here you will learn all you need to know about how to safely maneuver your personal watercraft while fly angling or just enjoying your day on the water. Topics will range from how to set up your kayak for fishing to the best way to float a river using a pontoon boat.
Captain Cory Routh will teach the kayak classes. Routh owns Ruthless Fishing Guide Service and is a St. Croix Rods pro-staffer. He was also the 2005 Mid-Atlantic Extreme Edge Kayak Fishing Angler of the Year. Brian Coppedge, a seasoned Mid-Atlantic fly angler, is the mid-Atlantic WaterSkeeter representative and knows pontoon boats inside and out.
Multiple WaterSkeeter and Appomattox River Company watercrafts will be on hand for you to inspect and purchase. Here’s your chance to learn all there is to know about kayaks and pontoon boats from the experts. Don’t miss the On the Water experience!
